BPW/WA Boards
2012 Fall Board
Theme:
Planting Roots Through Education and Information
The 2012 Fall Board was held on Saturday, September 22, at the
La Quinta Inn and Suites in Tacoma, WA. We had an amazing
event planned filled with: education, information, shopping, laughs,
good food, and great women! This year's Fall Board looked different from past
boards and was uniquely stimulating, as presented in the program.
2011 Fall Board
The 2011 Fall Board was on October 1. It was held at the YWCA Issaquah Family Village. Speakers for the event were Nancy Sorensen, Attorney at Law, who discussed which practical legal steps to take to protect ourselves and our families and Sunny Kobe Cook who entertained and enlightened us on how to become extraordinary using a series of simple choices in life. It was a day packed with great speakers (including a representative from the YWCA) trade tables, BPW business, terrific food, and great networking.

We
were honored to present Lilly Ledbetter,
well known for her pay equity battle with Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company
plant in Gadsden which led to the passage of a federal law named in her honor,
as the guest speaker at the 2012 State Conference.
Ms.
Ledbetter did not set out to be an activist, but her fight for equal pay went
all the way to the Supreme Court and in 2009 President Obama signed the Lilly
Ledbetter Fair Pay Act - the first bill he signed into law.
