Welcome to the 2016-2017 State of Washington Business and Professional Women’s new year. It is time to give the 2015-2016 leadership team a rousing round of applause and move forward with a new team.
As the State President I am personally asking each and every one of you to step out of your comfort zone. The themes the last two years have been “Leadership Begins With You!” and then “Stepping It Up!” The theme for the 2016-2017 year will be “Stepping Out!” of your comfort zone which equates to stepping out of your box. Last year the bar was raised from the previous year. It is time to have a repeat performance.
The good news is BPW/WA has answered the “What is in it for me?” question. Now it is time to double this organization in size. The one thing I found out this last BPW year is that the other women’s organizations ARE NOT OUR COMPETITION! We are Stepping Out! as an organization and are no longer a best kept secret.
All of our Locals have their unique ‘flavor’. We have heard that potential members would like to have the organization in their own community. With that said, we need to grow the Locals to cover more areas of the state. It is planned that five new Locals will exist before the end of the 2016-2017 year. Three locals are slated for Eastern Washington: Yakima, Spokane, and Tri-Cities. Two locals are slated for Western Washington: Federal Way/Tacoma and Issaquah Plateau. With this growth it would be easy to grow this organization by one hundred additional members. Also, each Local will need to increase their membership by 10 members.
By Stepping Out! we can and will increase membership and awareness of BPW/WA this year!!!
Best Personal Wishes,
